Coaching Assessment and Transformation®
Scrum Adventures recognizes that for an organization to be Agile, it must have the ability to move quickly and exist in a flexible, fast changing environment. The organization itself must embrace a culture of self-organization and collaboration where, according to the Agile Manifesto, the organization values Individuals and Interactions over process and tools, Working Software over comprehensive documentation, Customer Collaboration over contract negotiation, and Responding to Change over following a plan.
In order to accomplish transformation to an Agile culture, Scrum Adventures has developed a proven information technology consulting services approach that allows an organization to move along the path of agility while creating Agile behavior for all of those involved in the transformation process.
Scrum Adventures Coaching Assessment and Transformation® approach kicks off with a combined team of Scrum Adventure Coaches and your organization members collaborating to identify transformation areas to assess, build shippable product(s), and determine an initial customized transformation scope to help your organization start on its way to develop its company culture.
The initial Sprint Cycle will begin with a half-day Ideation Workshop. The Scrum Adventurers will provide your organization members with the tools to identify organizational areas to work on. The combined team will use the outcome of the Ideation Workshop to build a Product Backlog of User Stories. The Product Backlog defines what is assessed with some common topics being people, roles, process, training, certifications, executive buy-in, etc. After the stories are ordered and estimated, the team will next commit to an “Assessment” Sprint Backlog.
During the Assessment Sprint, the team will follow the Sprint Cycle framework to build an initial set of “shippable products”. The Assessment Sprint will take place for 2 weeks with the Scrum Master facilitating Daily Scrum meetings. At the end of the Assessment Sprint Cycle, the stakeholders will review and analyze the shippable products to determine which one(s) will be included in the scope of the Transformation. Shippable products commonly include coaching recommendations, training approach, teaming arrangements and executive re-tooling.
Once the scope is determined after completion of the Assessment Sprint, the team will continue onto the Transformation Sprint. Scrum meetings will be held to build on the shippable product yielded by the Assessment Sprint and create “incremental” shippable products. From here, either incremental Transformation or Assessment Sprints can continue. The number of sprints is open-ended and is determined as the product is produced. Through this process, the Assessment Product Backlog is refined based on the feedback from the Transformation Sprints. The Scrum Adventurers will use Scrum to assess the current state of the transformation.
Once your organization has received sufficient training, you are then ready to use your own Scrum Master(s) and Product Owner(s), which the Scrum Adventure Coaches could help provide. Through the Coaching Assessment and Transformation® approach, your organization transforms and finds its own culture. The Scrum Adventure Coaches will work with you on how to find your own way.
